Happy Thanksgiving!

What are y'all Thankful for? 

I got a long list. Too long to go into details. The usual suspects of family and friends of course but I feel that it is all brought and held together by a really basic need. I am lucky enough to have what at times feels like an overwhelming share: of food, a tiny apartment in one of best cities on the planet, and the ability to work in a field I am passionate about. 

But I think MFK Fisher said it best:

“It seems to me that our three basic needs, for food, security, and love, are so mixed and mingled and entwined that we cannot straightly think of one without the others. So it happens that when I write of hunger, I am really writing about about the love of it and the hunger for it, and warmth and the love of it and the hunger for it…and then the warmth and richness and fine reality of hunger satisfied …and it is all one.”
